Why This Recipe Works
Mangoes โ Not to be super obvious but, mangoes are so good in salsa. You may not expect mangoes to be the star in a salsa, but trust me, one bite and you’ll be hooked!
Red chili pepper โ Red chili pepper is great for balancing out the sweet of the mango and the bite of the onion. It’s the perfect amount of kick you’ll love.
Great accompaniment to tacos โ Mango salsa is my preferred type of salsa on top of tacos, chicken, fish, and more. It’s the perfect sweet topping to accent spices in your tacos and goes great with other taco toppings too, like green onions, jalapeรฑos, and more.
Easy to make โ Slice up mangoes, add diced onions, red pepper, cilantro, salt, and lime and that’s it! Your salsa is done and ready to devour.
Ingredients

Mango โ Opt for ripe mangoes as they will make the tastiest salsa. If you’re not sure, give a mango a gentle squeeze. If your fingers depress into the skin, it’s ready to eat.
Red chili pepper โ All you need is one little pepper diced finely to add the perfect amount of heat to balance out the sweetness of the mango. If you can’t find red chili peppers, you can add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes (to start, add more if you’re brave!).
Lime juice โ I always prefer to juice my own limes because fresh lime juice tastes so darn good in salsa. But if you prefer you can use bottle lime juice.
Here’s How You Make It

As I mentioned above I love mango salsa on tacos! Here are some other recipes that are good with this topping.
– Try some Mango Salsa Chicken โ Easy, flavorful, simple ingredients, you’ll love to make this chicken again and again.ย
– Pork Chops โ Give me a thick-cut, juicy pork chop topped with mango salsa (or peach salsa as this recipe shows) and I’m a happy girl.ย
– Love Grilled Salmon? Me too! Try adding this salsa over the top of grilled salmon for an out-of-this world entree.ย
– Cilantro-Lime Marinated Steak is also very good with fruit salsa of any kind on it. Give it a try!
Mangoes are a good source of Vitamins A, E, and C as well as potassium and magnesium minerals. They are good for your immune system, your skin, and are a great source of electrolytes. The fiber in mangoes also aids in digestion and keeps your system regular.
Yes, you can freeze mangoes once they’ve been cut. They will keep in the freezer for up to six months. Frozen mango is great for smoothies or if you’re making sorbet but are not the option you want to use for this salsa. Thawing mango will make it mushy if served in this way.
Expert Tips & Tricks
- It’s best to eat the salsa the day it is made but it will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- If you need to ripen mangoes, do so at room temperature. Once they are ripe you can keep them in the fridge to slow their ripening.
